TheWorldOfAVO: Is Steve Bannon and the Alt-Right Racist?

Another post by Avo

Aaaah....the alt-right.

So, I usually try not to jump on bandwagons but I would like to take a crack at this discussion.

Per the playbook, the MSM is painting all top Republicans as racists, Nazis, Hitlers etc. but this time they think they can make it stick with Steve (Stephen) Bannon, who has just been appointed chief strategist in the Trump White House.

On his podcast this week, Ben Shapiro reported from his personal experience that Mr. Bannon is most definitely not anti-semitic nor bigoted but can be vindictive, vengeful and petty and that concerns me a bit.

For the record, I don't believe Mr. Bannon deserves the vile labels assigned to him without evidence and I pray he does a great job really reforming Washington power structures.

Lets face it, 700 counties that twice voted for Barack Obama switched to Donald Trump which tells us they want genuine reform and not racism. So when a man with the temperament of Mr. Bannon is at the helm, we may actually achieve that - we'll just have to see.

Assuming we all have some cursory understanding of the uproar, I'd like to put Steve Bannon, the man, aside and just focus on the largely misunderstood phenomenon known as the alt-right.

Breitbart News published an article a while back to explain the alt-right and how all the factions in its spectrum differ. Joel Pollak, their in-house counsel, had to actually go on CNN to explain how it was a journalistic presentation of a phenomenon and not a vindication of the movement...seeing as nobody in the MSM actually goes outside their bubble to report facts anymore.

Breaking teeth on CNN

Anybody who dares to do any actual research - that doesn't comprise of scrolling through Twitter - might have actually visited and combed through pages upon pages of alt-right forums and seen the real deal. As somebody who has been watching these sites for years, I feel the Breitbart article is acceptable so I refer you to that.

It's important to remember that there are definitely white nationalists within the alt-right and there is a strong case to say they even formed it with much of its culture
and basic underpinnings. But while they raised its flag we also observe many minorities and everyday people allying themselves with the movement creating a rather wide spectrum.

If the KKK had their druthers, Milo Yiannopoulos would certainly be a victim, yet he and many like him are allied to the cause...why?

It's survival.

PC culture, mass refugee immigration and Shariah law pose a much greater existential threat to gay Jews than white nationalism. So I'm certain that all the peripheral and bandwagon alt-righters prefer this temporary alliance and leave the fight with the KKK for another day.

But it gets more bizarre.

The reason the core alt-right is even associated with rest of the right wing is not because they respect rule of law or the Constitution, as I do. It's because they are the descendants of the original Democrats and when they got booted from their own party they switched sides and thus they are "alternative."

Oddly enough, true Democrats

Unfortunately, since they are able to rally support and enthusiasm, many disenfranchised Republicans who are sick of being sold out by party elites joined these castigated Democrats and formed this alliance. But make no mistake, the white supremacists HATE them.

If we would take a snapshot of the alt-right and all within its spectrum we can observe that those on the liberty side would historically be categorized as Abe Lincoln Republicans and those on the KKK side can be categorized as Andrew Jackson Democrats...a truer living snapshot of American history has never been captured.

Gun-toting Republican on left and violent bigoted Democrat on right

To be clear, I do not align myself within this movement, but I think we can all agree that to varying degrees and for various reasons everybody within the alt-right is sick of PC culture, sick of the suppression of the first and second amendments, the vilification of their identities and histories and the ever increasing, over reaching hand of our government.

It's time we start listening to the facts on the ground, what do the American people stand for, and what do they expect from their elected officials? That's the priority of this election cycle and that's why Donald Trump is the president-elect.

Ohh... and once I'm at it, it's time for the MSM and journalists to stop baiting us with tabloid journalism to actually report on the daily news and we shouldn't be afraid to turn our eyes and ears to alternative news sources with credibility and trustworthiness.

Cautiously optimistic of a great American future, God Bless America.

  1. There's always been a great diversity of opinion/attitudes within the Alt-Right (AKA Dark Enlightenment) community. For most of us, white nationalism has always been an important part of it; what's the point in defending whites, white culture and all that is good and wholesome if whites can't have self-determination?

But in all the years I've been involved, I have yet to hear anyone say they're upset over having been kicked out of the Democratic Party.

If there was an actual leader of the Alt-Right/Dark Enlightenment, it would be Jared Taylor, Check out some of his videos on YouTube when you have time. The man's brilliant.

    1. My introduction to the Alt-Right came when I was surfing the web in HS reading up on freedom. The Alt-Right reminds me of the scene in Monty Python's Holy Grail where all the different factions of Jews who want independence can't work together because of mutual disdain. It's sad but true of us, Jews, and in a sense all of us on the right.

I don't want to get into a conversation about race and ethnic studies, of which I have no formal education, but I tend to agree with white middle class culture. I think assimilation is an important part of every country and should be a mandatory element of our immigration policy.

The people pushed out of the Democrat Party for being overtly racist (as opposed to the subliminal racism at the current core of the party) are the ones we should be keeping our eyes on. I think we should all take note of the fact that this new explosion of white identity is a direct reaction to the identity politics played up by the Left. How can you force diversity then turn around and play identity politics aimed at discriminating against whites without expecting an equally powerful reaction? So, in that respect, I think I understand what's going on. The solution? I have no idea, but I would like to see tensions brought down.

I grew up in a pretty diverse community and there wasn't a whole lot of friction among kids. As we grew older, one ethnic group (Armenians) tended to cluster together to the exclusion of others and seemed to operate their own community, and drifted apart from the rest of us. So I've seen diversity and I've seen tribalism in my own life. Whichever conversation we have, we shouldn't be selective of which facts we like.

  3. Hey thanks for commenting.

I tend to agree with you. Jared Taylor - is not an anti Semite, and has some content which shows an affinity with the Jewish people, and their Jewish state Israel

  4. But most importantly, I think its interesting, becasue I identify myself as a white Jew. So I wonder where I fit into the trail of thought of Jared Taylor.

  5. Reading this back to myself a couple weeks later, I wish I could've added a few points and clarified a few things.

Firstly, Breitbart News is NOT alt-right, in my opinion. Just because they can be a little more risque than MSM and enjoy provocation, this does not take away from the fact that they operate as an insurgent media outlet reporting on voices and topics just not covered in MSM. They imitate some of the irreverent attitude towards mainstream but it seems they are in fact aiming at becoming mainstream. I think it's interesting that Milo calls himself the king of the alt-right and the only people who buy into that are clueless drones. It also seems like I was fully endorsing the above referenced Breitbart article, but it's really just an oversimplified yet verbose article. I think there is an incredible amount missing from it and my aim was to reiterate that it's far from racist. There are more exhaustive and better pieces written out there.

Secondly, as seen in above photo. It's very fitting that the Confederate Battle Flag and the swastika plastered NSM USA flag to be flown together. As socialists, these people don't believe in the freedom of individuals and it's insulting that those of us on the right are forced to share space with them in media coverage. Whatever the current interpretation of the Dixie flag, we can all agree it was originally flown as a symbol of Southern Democrats who fought the federal government over the "oppression" of their "right" to oppress individuals.

    I think I have a basis for a new piece here...stay tuned.
