TheWorldofAvo: Transitioning from Candidate Trump to President Trump

Another post by Avo

Now is not the time to celebrate.

It's sad that not a day goes by we don’t hear of civil unrest in our big cities.

A movement which threatens to tear down the foundations of our republic and usher in a tyranny and dystopia not unsimilar to Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World.

As lovers of freedom, we must ever remain vigilant by keeping ourselves informed on the issues, if we wish to keep our borders and freedoms.

When I went to the ballot box last week, I intended to vote against corruption, cronyism and stand up to defend my country’s borders, values and freedoms but since issues can’t be president I filled in the bubble next to Donald J. Trump.

Being a principled independent and not just a fanboy means that I hold the candidate accountable to issues he ran on and watching reports of him bringing his family into his administration is NOT reassuring.

Dynasties do not bode well for the public - Dynasties breed corruption.

The way I see it, Dynasties are unAmerican.

The Clintons, and the Bushes - Anyone Else?

Sure, I bet Mr. Trump's children are sincere, intelligent, thoughtful and well meaning, but the ambition to fix everything and the notion that you and your family have all the answers needs to be checked by outsiders and we can’t set a bad precedent at this crucial time.

What would we say if Mrs. Clinton gave positions to her husband and daughter?

It also seems that a culture of pettiness and favor trading is taking shape in this young administration; I refer you to the Omarosa interview.

Secretary Omarosa?

Now lets get somethings straight, I’m not saying the president-elect does not have a right to appoint allies who will help him enact the issues we elected on but to use these appointments as weapons of revenge does not help the country.

And it’s not like he has even renewed his vows on the issues important to us, on the contrary, he’s softened up.

It seems to me like he entered Washington sans the disgust we all feel and was therefore swayed by internal squabbling.

Being the pragmatist that he is, he came back to us via 60 Minutes and played down his promises, but we’re not dumb and we ought to fight back and lobby this incoming administration and not fear calling them out; we want drastic and bold action.

Doublespeak or Strategic re-positioning

Did Barack Obama back down from his promise to reform healthcare? I distinctly remember him doubling down and sticking to his guns, lobbying day and night to get it passed - Mr. Trump should do the same no ifs, ands or buts...

Seriously, how do we expect to repeal Obamacare by keeping normal business hours, cutting deals and trading favors?

Another issue, which should not be an issue, is Hillary Clinton.

When Mr. Trump ran, he fittingly referred to her as 'Crooked Hillary,' and for good reason...

Now it seems that Mr. Trump has backed off from this promise to investigate the crimes of Hillary Clinton and her cronies.

Umm lets put it this way, this is unacceptable - period.

We are a country of laws and we should all be equal under that law.

We cannot send a message that anybody, no matter their years of service or if they're "good people," is ever exempt from the law!

The crimes Mrs. Clinton allegedly committed are serious, resulted in major damage to our image overseas, caused a loss of American lives and illustrate very very bad policy - not to mention there is good reason to believe she was privately enriched by these official actions through her foundation.

It is impossible to use Gerald Ford’s pardon of Richard Nixon as a precedent because the benefit to Mr. Nixon from his espionage actions were only meant to give him an edge in the election - not an edge in his pocket.

It was wrong, but nobody died as direct result, no policy was enacted, and to put matters in perspective he actually apologized and stepped down in shame.

As the electorate, we must see to it that these investigations continue and that a grand jury is convened with or without Mr. Trump’s blessing.

If he chooses to pardon her, I say we must hold him accountable, treat him as hostile and definitely not re-elect him, no consequence if off the table.

I urge all my fellow citizens to remain vigilant and hold the feet of this administration to the fire.

UPDATE:
I would definitely call this reassuring and I'm glad the reporting was false.

Also...

It seems like scandal prone Chris Christie was in fact NOT the right man to #DrainTheSwamp
