Of Modesty and Trump
In a Weekly Standard article (August 15th issue, 2016) Judith Miller & Ann Marlowe, express their utter disgust of the Trump campaign reaction to the NY POST hit piece (from August 1st , 2016) here.
As they reported in their op-ed, when Donald Trump spokesman was asked about his boss's reaction to the New York Post's publication of nude photos of his wife, Melania. Jason Miller told CNN "There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, She's a beautiful woman."
Miller and Marlowe begin a lengthy diatribe, bemoaning how once to be a "president demanded a measure of decorum. But that was when Americans expected more from their politicians", yet no more.
Moreover, they go on to claim (falsely) that the media's silence "over Mrs. Trump's indiscretion: [Was because] [w]e've become inured to such self-inflicted violations of privacy".
Yet was the media in fact silent? Far from it, the media jumped at the opportunity to be the guardian of morals and modesty and for two to three days straight harped on the issue - this comic from Townhall tells it all:
Yet for all the media's unabashed attacks on the Trump family over this election season, its no secret that this photo fiasco was just another attempt at Slut shaming a person, because she happens to be associated with Media enemy #1 Donald Trump.
It has nothing to do with what Melania actually did and if it were Kim Kardashian all we would hear about is how empowered woman are in modern times.
Put in simple terms, this is an attempt to assassinate someone, without shame or remorse.
As a public disclaimer, I would like to point out that these photos are pretty much pornography, and I am a far cry from supporting the industry, (all one needs to do is watch hot girls wanted to realize how bad the porn industry is, and how much we the viewers are part of the problem) but nevertheless we live in a free country and I accept that in order to enjoy that freedom, it comes with its own set of issues.
What I am looking to do here is analyze the Trump campaign's reaction - and to do that I ask my readers to participate in the conversation.
Was the Trump reaction correct? You tell me in the comment section bellow.
