Daily Caller Exclusive: Gerrit Lansing Resigned From White House, Not Fired
By Robert Donachie of the Daily Caller
Recent reports state Lansing was dismissed from the White House for failing an FBI background check, formally known as the SF86 security questionnaire. Lansing, however, voluntarily left his post at the White House officially Feb. 9, and his official White House file corroborates this fact, a first-hand source tells The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Politico originally reported that members of the group were “walked out of the building by security” Feb. 16 after not passing the questionnaire. Lansing, however, was likely not included in this group. Travel records obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation shows that Lansing was on vacation in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., from Feb. 15 to Feb. 17.
Buzzfeed raised red flags about Lansing’s possible conflicts of interest last September, when the outlet reported that Lansing’s LinkedIn and Twitter pages do not include his involvement with Revv.
Caroline Wells, daughter of Trump’s Florida campaign manager Susan Wells, was also one of the six staffers reportedly fired from the White House. Wells resigned from her post before the background check was complete.
The background check, formally known as SF86 security questionnaire, is required for all White House staffers who work in positions related to national security.
The White House did not respond for comment.
