Wow what a day....
It started off with the offing (no pun intended) of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey by his own Turkish body guard no less, a move which frankly can start World War 3...
But to understand this whole occurance it would be wise to catch up on the back story - as laid out by Sundace over at the Conservative Tree House.
When five exiled leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood were kicked out of Qatar, the government of Turkey took them in.
Turkey has also been identified as providing direct support to ISIS in Northern Syria. In addition, when Russia began attacking ISIS Turkey shot down a Russian fighter jet.
And while Turkish President Recep Erdogan sanctions these aggressive Islamo Fascist actions, Turkey remains a member of NATO - Go figure...
So as a direct result, Russian ambassador to Turkey was shot dead by a Turkish police officer at an art gallery in Ankara. Ambassador Andrey Karlov, 62, was repeatedly shot at close range by a gunman shouting:
‘Allahu Akbar (God is Great). We die in Aleppo, you die here!’
See video:
The shooter has been named on social media as Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş, 22, a police officer from the Ankara police special forces department.
A video of the horrific attack captured the gunman, dressed in a suit and tie, pacing the gallery while brandishing a gun in one hand and waving the other in the air.
Meanwhile the US Security Department reported an ‘ongoing security incident’ outside the US Embassy in Ankara, near to the gallery where the shooting took place. (read more)
This is insane...
But it did not stop there...
A Pakistani refugee truck driver killed at least 12 in a Berlin Christmas market.
According to the German newspaper Die Welt, the alleged terrorist arrived in Germany in February 16, 2016. Die Welt did not list its sources. The alleged driver has been taken into custody. A Polish citizen found dead in the cab of the truck was the registered driver of the vehicle, which was reportedly stolen from a construction site.
The Islamic State has not claimed responsibility for the attack but in recent months they have encouraged followers to use vehicles as weapons. A July truck attack killed 87 in Nice, France.
