New York Times Gives Out Free Constitution, But Shows How Ignorant They Are of the Constitution Instead

In honor of Independence Day this Tuesday, The New York Times decided to give out a free annotated constitution in their Sunday edition.

The paper, on its website on Friday as a clear anti-Trump statement, stated that they are “bringing you a special section that celebrates one of America’s most important founding documents: the U.S. Constitution…learn what the country’s operating manual…can teach us in the age of Donald Trump.”

In other words, just another typical day at the New York Times.

The Times’ move took a lot of backlash, especially on Twitter—for example, Daily Wire Editor-In-Chief Ben Shapiro tweeted that the Times should “send one to your editors.”

But the Times forgets an important historical fact, showing that their supposed attempt at patriotism is nothing but a fraud. The Constitution didn’t exist on July 4, 1776. In fact, the Constitution was adopted and signed on September 17, 1787. Independence Day is when we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Hence, the name “Independence Day.”

This point was raised on Fox News’ “Watters’ World” on Saturday by Mark Levin as well, as he was promoting his new book, Rediscovering Americanism and the Tyranny of Progressivism.

As Levin noted, the Times would never talk about the Declaration because it simply doesn’t agree with it. The Times is blatantly Left-leaning, and embraces progressivism, which is antithetical to the Declaration’s contents. The Declaration speaks about natural law, the principles of liberty and unalienable rights. Progressivism’s foundation is built on the supremacy of man-made law and government-given rights.

In summary, the Times clearly does not care about advancing the cause of the American founding. All paper intended to do with this stunt was to portray President Trump as someone who doesn’t care about liberty. And in keeping in line with their Leftist ideology, the Times exposed itself as nothing but ignorant of American history and their disdain for any ideology other than Progressivism.
