Jerusalem Post Conference Report - May 7, 2017

The Marriott Marquis hotel in NYC was filled with celebrities from Israel and America who had all gathered for the 6th Annual Jerusalem Post Conference this past Sunday, May 7.

The crowd which filled the huge ballroom of the hotel was treated to an amazing array of superb speakers. Yaakov Katz, editor-in-chief of the Jerusalem Post, welcomed everyone and served as the MC for the day, and also as an interviewer on several panels.

The Israelis who had arrived for this special event included Minister of Transportation and Intelligence Israel Katz, Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources Dr. Yuval Steinitz, Chairman of the Labor Party MK Isaac Herzog, Minister of Science and Technology Ofir Akunis, Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked, Minister of Education and Diaspora Affairs Naftali Bennett, Israel's Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, Lt. Gen. (res.) Moshe Ya'Alon, Lt. Gen. (ret.) Dani Haloutz, Jerusalem Post Editor Caroline Glick, and Jerusalem Post reporter Herb Keinon.

In addition, there was a beautiful tribute to Russian Jewish Veterans of WWII in honor of VE day which fell on May 7-8, 1945. Dr. Sebastian Gorka, Deputy Assistant to President Trump, reminded everyone about the 1-1/2 million Jews, primarily Americans and Russians, who fought against the Nazis. He noted that the JP Conference, which asserted the strength of America and Israel to be victorious over any enemy, was well timed to underscore the theme, We Are Back!!

An excellent panel discussion was held on the Middle East's Economy in the Trump Era, where inspiring reports of Israel's R&D innovations were given.

There were a number of Americans who participated, including the familiar names of Alan Dershowitz, Larry King, Senators Tom Cotton and Deb Fischer, and Congresswoman Grace Meng.

As you can see, the Conference was an amazing one, with exciting and encouraging speeches and comments from all the participants - and there were others who didn't get named in this report - all of them in support of Israel - all of them recognizing that there is no peace partner for Israel at this time, and all excited about the promising future that lies ahead for Israel.

There was also great anticipation about President Trump's upcoming visit to Yerushalayim this May, coinciding with the celebration of Israel's victories in 1967. The audience at the Conference applauded at all the references to the support Israel appears to be receiving from President Trump and his administration. We applaud also.
